Traffic disrupted due to lorry stuck in ditch on city's Thadagam Road

Traffic was disrupted on Coimbatore Thadagam Road when a lorry carrying heavy load got stuck in a ditch dug for laying a drinking water pipeline.

Coimbatore: The work of laying drinking water pipelines in various areas, including Sivaji Colony and KNG Pudur on Thadagam Road in Coimbatore is underway in full swing. For this purpose, pits were dug at many places. In some places, pipes have been laid.

On Thadagam Road, a pit was not completely closed after the pipe was laid. A lorry that was carrying a heavy load of iron rods near Idayarpalayam, got stuck in the half-closed pit causing traffic to be disrupted in the area for over an hour even as attempts were made to lift the lorry out of the pit.

An old iron-laden auto rickshaw which was trying to get past the spot where the lorry was stuck also got stuck in the ditch. Due to this, there was a heavy traffic jam between Kovilmedu and Idaiyarpalayam on Thadagam Road.

Motorists were forced to drive past the spot with great difficulty. As neither the police nor those engaged in laying the drinking water pipeline came to the rescue, residents in the area had to clear the traffic.
