Special camps are being conducted in 2,811 divisional offices to link Aadhaar numbers.
In addition, 2,811 special camps have been conducted in the respective areas and special camps have been conducted to create awareness among the people to instruct them to carry out the works.
Consumers who do not link their Aadhaar number with their electricity connection will not be able to pay the electricity bill.
Due to this, the electricity bill will not be allowed to be paid within 20 days of the calculation of the electricity consumption and the penalty will have to be paid.
It is also said that there is a possibility of disconnection of power supply to such consumers.
"Thus far, 2.34 crore electricity connections have been linked with Aadhaar in Tamil Nadu. There are still 33 lakh people who are yet to join. There are 2.67 crore consumers in Tamil Nadu who use 100 units of free electricity and 500 units of subsidised power.
The Central Government has directed all State Governments to link the details of beneficiaries receiving free and subsidy with their Aadhaar numbers.
Following this, the process of linking Aadhaar number with electricity connection was started in November last year.
The last date for the same was announced on December 31, last year. However, since most of them did not link their Aadhaar number with the electricity connection, the deadline was extended till January 31," explained Minister Senthil Balaji.
