Anaimalai Masani Amman Temple 'Kundam Festival' celebrated with religious fervour

Thousands of devotees participated in the “Kundam festival” and entered the agni kundam held at the famous Anaimalai Masani Amman temple near Pollachi.


Coimbatore: Anaimalai Masani Amman temple is one of the most famous temples in Tamil Nadu.

The Kundam festival in this temple begins every year with the hoisting of the flag on "Thai Amavasya" day.

Accordingly, this year's Kundam festival began with the hoisting of the flag at the Rajagopuram in front of the Masani Amman temple on January 27th.



For the past 10 days, special poojas have been performed for the Goddess.



The main event of the Kundam festival, the mayana poojai was held on the 3rd and Amman Thiruveedhi procession was held last night.

Following this, the kundam was prepared last night on the ground near the temple.



The temple Arulali commenced the agni kundam entry by rolling a ball and descending into the kundam. Thousands of devotees followed suit and paid their obeisance to Amman by walking the fire pit.

A large number of devotees from various districts of Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore and Tiruppur, have gathered at Anaimalai to witness the grand kundam festival.
