Truck catches fire near a petrol pump in Palladam, major accident averted

Tirupur: A truck caught fire near a private petrol pump at Palladam. A major accident was averted as the fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire.

Jayakrishnan, a lorry driver, hails from Aruppukottai in Virudhunagar district and he was transporting a load in his truck from Paramathi Vellore to Tiruppur about two days ago.

After that, he parked the truck behind a private petrol pump on the Palladam-Udumalpet road.

Even as the lorry was getting ready to go to Pollachi, to ferry a load of tender coconut the rear of the truck suddenly caught fire.



Shocked by this, the onlookers alerted the fire department, who rushed to the spot and put out the fire.



A major accident was averted as the truck caught fire near the petrol pump but the timely arrival of fire tenders doused the fire.

Palladam police are investigating the cause of the fire accident.
