Villagers impound TNSTC bus, peeved over ill-treatment meted out to school students near Palladam

Citing overcrowding the bus conductor dropped off 15 school girls, who were travelling in the bus at Kethanur itself in the midway, thus forcing them to walk back home to their village, which is a good three kilometres away.



Tirupur: Enraged over the incident that the TNSTC bus conductor had deboarded 15 school girls from a bus near Palladam in the mid-way, the agitated residents impounded a TNSTC bus at Pulliyappampalayam on Palladam-Udumalpet road

today.

A large number of students from Pulliyappampalayam area of Chittampalam panchayat, next to Palladam, attend schools near Palladam every day.

The students were travelling in a TNSTC bus going from Vavipalayam to Ganapathipalayam via Chittampalam and Palladam last evening.

Citing overcrowding the bus conductor dropped off 15 school girls who were travelling in the bus at Kethanur itself in the midway and forced them to walk back home.

The deboarded 15 school girls had to walk about three kilometres from Kethanur to reach Pulliyappampalayam, their village.

The ill-treated school girls had complained to their parents about the incident.



Enraged over this, the parents staged a protest by impounding a TNSTC bus at Pulliyappampalayam on Palladam-Udumalpet road this morning.



The public also got into an argument with the driver and conductor of the government bus over the incident.



Palladam police reached the spot and pacified the protesters. The public and school students called off the protest and dispersed after they were promised to inform the concerned authorities and take action on the incident.

In this situation, the incident of people protesting by detaining a government bus created a commotion in the area. The public have also demanded that additional bus facilities should be introduced for the benefit of school students.
