Coimbatore: A Special Team busted a drug peddling racket and arrested a gang of four involved in the sale of narcotic drugs and tablets in the city.
During the investigation, it was revealed that they purchased narcotic drugs and injections from Karnataka which were sold to customers in the city at a five-fold profit.

Accordingly, awareness programmes are being conducted in Coimbatore on the orders of City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan to curb the sale of drugs and to nab the drug peddlers.
A special team headed by Assistant Commissioner Ravi, Inspector Latha and Special Sub-Inspector Shanmugam was patrolling city areas to nab drug peddlers.
Acting on a tip-off the police rushed to the Ukkadam Pullukadu area of the city and nabbed four drug peddlers.

Police arrested Mohammad Tariq, Nawaz, Almanar and Karthikeyan, and seized 25 tablets of nitravet, 25 tablets of tidol and other tablets numbering about 100. Injection syringes and 3 cell phones were also seized.

The investigation also confirmed that many college students, IT employees and others were buying and using these drugs and tablets from the gang.
The arrested were later remanded in judicial custody.
