Coimbatore Police arrested TASMAC employees who staged a demo demanding the arrest of Karur- based goons who threaten and extort money from them in front of the South Taluk office.

TASMAC employees across Tamil Nadu have launched several protests with various demands including consolidated pay, and regularization of services for all employees.
In this scenario, some Karur- based goons who have taken control of liquor bars through auctions have been indulging in various irregularities.
Alleging that the liquor bars in Coimbatore district were taken by benamis and brought under the control of some goons, they said TASMAC employees were threatened daily and “ maamool†was collected from them.

PMK state general secretary Vadivel Ravanan told reporters “that TASMAC employees have been staging protests pressing for their demands. But the government has so far not listened and is deceiving the employees just as it is deceiving the peopleâ€.
“If their demands are no longer met, the Pattali Makkal Katchi will join hands with the TASMAC joint committee to carry out several phases of struggles under the leadership of PMK leader Anbumani
Ramadoss and state-wide protest will be held†he said.
More than 500 people, including PMK state general secretary Vadivel Ravanan, Pattali Trade Union Council state deputy general secretary Ramasundaram, Velumani, Jeeva, Paramasivam, Govindan
and AIADMK trade union and CITU participated in the protest.
Even though the demo was staged after proper police permission, it was alleged that the protesters were threatened by the police and arrested.
