Cybercrime police arrest youth for misrepresentation of a city woman on social media

Manikandan, a native of Shenbagaraman Nallur in Tirunelveli district, was arrested by the City Cyber Crime Police after he posted obscene pictures and videos of a 25-year-old woman from the city.


Coimbatore: Manikandan (31) hails from Shenbagaramannallur in the Tirunelveli district. He is working at a bakery in Malappuram in Kerala.



In this scenario, he has opened a fake account on Instagram in the name of Justin and befriended a 25-year-old woman from Coimbatore.

The married woman had shared some of her photos with him, which Manikantan used to blackmail her after their relationship soured.

While publishing the morphed images of the woman in an obscene manner, he portrayed her as a sex worker.

He also posted the mobile phone number of the woman's husband on various fake accounts along with obscene pictures.

Shocked, the woman's husband lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police in Coimbatore, who took up investigations.

Cybercrime inspector Arun registered a case and arrested Manikandan for blackmail and misrepresentation of women in an obscene manner.

In the meanwhile, the Cyber cell has advised women not to be in touch with total strangers on social media and share pictures inadvertently.
