TN Health Minister inaugurates 69th Annual Conference of Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons at Coimbatore

Ma. Subramanian announced at the Conference that he will take part in the Council Meeting to be held in Coimbatore concerning the upcoming budget allocations to State Healthcare and the schemes to be established for the same.



Coimbatore:The Tamil Nadu Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Ma. Subramanian inaugurated the 69th Annual Conference of Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons (IACTSCON) at Coimbatore.



'IACTSCON 23,' the four-day conference witnessed the participation of about 1200 surgeons from across the country.



While addressing the audience, he also announced that he will take part in the Council Meeting to be held in Coimbatore concerning the upcoming budget allocations to State Healthcare and the schemes to be established for the same. The council meeting is said to include prominent physicians from across the State to identify the needful sectors and implement health plans accordingly.

Concerning the IACTSCON 23 conference, Ma. Subramanian said, "These surgeons serve the most vital sector of the country and I deem it a pleasure to mention that Tamil Nadu tops the country with the maximum number of qualified cardiac surgeons. In recent years, cardiac cases have become a major concern in the health sector and the need to address them is mandatory. This conference will serve as a platform to encounter extensive measures for the treatment and subsequent medical aids concerning cardiovascular diseases."



"Tamil Nadu hospitals have performed the maximum heart transplant surgeries and have inspired other states to execute the same. Since 2008, as many as 250 heart transplant surgeries have been performed under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS). Yet about 45 people require a heart transplant. The State surpasses in the heart, liver and kidney transplants, invariably to outshine CMCHIS in the country," stated the TN Health Minister.



He recounted his recent visit to Japan and discussions with the country's health directory. "Japan is a country excelling in effective cancer therapy and their technologies from diagnosis/ screening to treatment is to be embraced and measures are underway to initiate resource exchange between the countries. Another inspiring movement in Japan is the initiation of the 'Happy Walk,' to encourage healthy walking habits among the citizens. Though Tamil Nadu is dedicated to conducting various awareness marathons, this 'Happy Walk' initiative will be recommended in the State Healthcare implementation. This is expected to be proposed in the Council Meeting as well," added Ma. Subramanian.
