A 10-km four-lane flyover is being constructed on the Coimbatore-Avinashi road from Uppilipalayam to Goldwins at a cost of Rs 1,621.30 crore.

At that time, the highways department officials requested the collector to acquire land at VOC ground, Anna Silai, Nava India, Hope College and SITRA areas where the ramps are to be constructed.
Subsequently, a special cell has been created in the State Highways Department to acquire land for the Highways Department. Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, who contacted the division, instructed them to expedite the land acquisition process.
According to state highways department officials, 42 per cent of the avinashi road flyover work has been completed. An overhead runway has been constructed between 80 pillars. So far, Rs 481 crore has been spent.
In order for the public to cross the road without any difficulty, the underpass will be constructed in five areas - Krishnammal College, KMCH, Hospital, GRG, School, PSG College and Lakshmi Mill Junction. On both sides of the bridge, a 1.5-metre-wide drain with a footpath will be constructed, they said.
District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati said, Officials said they were able to work at only three locations a week as there were only three machines to lift the runway. "I have instructed them to procure additional machines, speed up the work and start the work of setting up of climbing and landing sites at government-owned places immediately," he said.
