As Government Law College students' protests enter second day, classes stood cancelled

The Government Law College authorities have announced the cancellation of all classes due to the ongoing protest of law college students in the city.

Coimbatore: Following the protest staged by the Government law college students, in the city the College administration has announced that all classes stood cancelled for the day due to the student's protest.

The protests were in support of two students who have been suspended by the college authorities.

Haritha, a law student, had submitted her U.G. certificates when she joined the B.L. course, but the college authorities denied it.

Sheikh Muhammed, a third-year student of the same college, reportedly abused the college staff in support of student Haritha, when they said her testimonials were missing.

Angered at this, the college staff lodged a complaint with the Principal, who in turn gave a police complaint. Subsequently, a case has been registered against Sheikh Mohammed and Haritha at Vadavalli Police station, and the two were suspended from college.

It is also alleged that Dharanis, a second-year student, has also been suspended without giving any reason.

Protesting against this, students gathered in front of the law college premises and raised slogans against the college authorities.

The students raised slogans demanding that no action should be taken against the protesting students.

Following this, the Principal of the college began talks with the students and the students demanded that the Principal accept their demands and give them in writing.

The students said that they would give up their protests, only if their demands are met.

It may be noted that the students have been protesting since yesterday afternoon, and they continued through the night.

In this scenario, a notice board placed in front of the law college premises stated that all classes have been cancelled today due to administrative reasons.
