Coimbatore: The Annur police have arrested husband Sreedharan, his paramour Ramya and Palani for trying to kill the former’s wife Keerthana and his mother-in-law with lethal and poisonous injections.

Sreedharan (27), a native of Madurai, works as a catering supervisor at a private hospital in Coimbatore. Ramya (27) and his friend Palani (25), also worked with him.

They conspired to kill Sreedharan’s wife Keerthana and his mother Geethalakshmi by injecting poison.

Keerthana lodged a complaint with the Annur police in this regard. Following this, Sreedharan was arrested and produced before the Mettupalayam Court and remanded in custody. The Annur police were on the lookout for Ramya and Palani, the other two accused in the case and they were arrested at RG Pudur near Chinniyampalayam.

During interrogation, Ramya said that she was in love with Palani and after that, she became acquainted with Sridharan and got married to him a month ago. She confided giving a lethal injection to Keerthana and an anaesthetic injection to Keerthana's mother Geethalakshmi.

Keerthana suffered from convulsions. But Geethalakshmi did not faint and saw that her daughter had a seizure and asked her to be admitted to the hospital immediately. “We had no choice but to take both of them to the hospital and treat them," the arrested duo said.

Following this, The Annur police registered a case under six sections, including attempt to murder, against Ramya and Palani and produced them before the Mettupalayam court and remanded them in custody.
