Coimbatore: A major fire broke out near the Ukkadam fish market in a cement godown due to which goods were charred.

The fish market located on the Ukkadam bypass road in Coimbatore is busy with the movement of people in the morning hours when the fire broke out.



Following this, which, the workers alerted the fire service personnel, who rushed to the spot and battled with the flames before dousing them.



The firemen doused the fire on time, thus preventing it from spreading to the fish market, which is nearby.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The police are investigating whether it was due to short circuit or some other reason.
