Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated the buildings of the Veterinary College and Research Institute and the Veterinary College at the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University near Udumalpet through video conferencing.
Tirupur: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated several buildings that have been completed at the Veterinary University near Udumalpet in Tirupur district.
As per the administrative sanction of the Government of Tamil Nadu, a new Veterinary College and Research Station was established at Pannaikinar village near Udumalaipettai as per the Government Order of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries. Buildings for the new college have been constructed on an area of 42.89 acres at a cost of Rs. 82.1 crore.
The new college will not only have an administrative building, but will also have facilities such as academic halls for 17 specialized departments of veterinary medicine, a technical laboratory for value-added meat and dairy products, and a post-mortem laboratory. Separate hostels for boys and girls too have been constructed.
Principal's residence, hostel warden quarters, restaurant, veterinary complex and livestock farm complex have also been set up.
The veterinary complex functioning under the college is located in Peddappampatti village on the Karur-Pollachi highway. There is a separate medical laboratory, operation theatre, gastroenterology units, outpatient department, radiology unit, endoscopy unit, physiotherapy unit for large and small animals.
The buildings also comprise all the facilities of the Veterinary Department such as isolation unit for skin diseases and laboratory facilities. A Farmers' Service Unit has also been established to provide consultancy services to the farmers on new technologies in livestock and poultry farming.
Chief Minister M K Stalin participated in the inauguration ceremony held at the college premises through video conferencing and inaugurated the buildings of the college. Kumaravel, Principal of the college inaugurated the memorial plaque, felicitated the building engineers and delivered the keynote address.
Suguna Poultry Management Institute Chairman Gajendran, R K Ramasamy, Chairman, RKR Education Board, Thyagarajan, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Tirupur district and Valarmathi Maharajan, President, Pannaikunnu Village Panchayat were the chief guests and delivered the felicitation speech.
All the professors and students of the college participated in the function.
