Coimbatore: A group of four auto drivers from Thudiyalur tried to self-immolate even as the District collector Kranthi Kumar Pati arrived for the public grievances day meeting today.
They alleged that they were discriminated against by auto drivers with BJP party affiliation.
A weekly public grievance meeting is held at the District collector's office every Monday and a large number of people visit the district Collector's office to submit petitions.
Meanwhile, the belongings of the public are permitted inside the Collector's office only after the police check.

However, three auto drivers and a woman belonging to the same family suddenly doused themselves in kerosene and tried to torch themselves.

Police on duty immediately seized the fuel cans and poured water on the auto drivers.
During the inquiry, they were identified as Anandkumar, Raghu, and Ahmed, who were auto drivers in the Thudiyalur area and the woman identified as Raghu's mother Lakshmi.
