Coimbatore: A Truck collided with a Kerala auto in Sulur on Monday. The truck driver fled the spot after the collision wherein the police initiated a search patrol for the runaway. On the other hand, the auto driver was reported dead on the spot.
Late afternoon, an auto with a Kerala registration number was headed towards Kerala after crossing the Neelampur tollgate on Sulur L&T bypass road in the Coimbatore district.

The deceased was identified as Sasikumar (48) from Kerala, who was driving the auto and Yuvavluthi (52) from Salem Chinnathirupathi was riding behind.
During the time of the accident, while the auto approached the Kulathur section an oncoming lorry collided with the auto and left without halting. Reportedly, auto driver Sasikumar died on the spot. The lady who was travelling along suffered severe injuries.
According to sources, the bystanders who witnessed the incident rescued the people trapped inside the auto and informed the police regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the injured woman was sent to a private hospital in Singanallur for treatment.
In this regard, the Sulur police are investigating this case and have initiated a search party for the lorry driver who fled the spot after the incident.
