Chamber of Commerce and Industry lauds ‘TN Budget 2023-24’ for announcing developmental projects for the city

The body also welcomed the stipend Rs. 7,500 per month for students for a period of 10 months for IAS aspirants.


Coimbatore: Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Coimbatore chapter) has lauded the Tamil Nadu Budget 2023 – 2024 presented by P T R Palanivel Thiagarajan, Finance Minister, in the TN Assembly.

In a statement the office bearers said “On behalf of Members of our Chamber and people of this region, we thank the Chief Minister M K Stalin for presenting this budget, particularly with the announcement of Kovai Metro Rail Project for Coimbatore between Avinashi road and Sathyamangalam road allocating Rs. 9,000 Crores”.

The Chamber of Commerce also lauded the budget for the budgetary allocation of Rs. 77,000 crores for developing the Mega Power Projects generating 14,500 MW of power by 2030. This will support Industrial Development and overcome power shortage problems.

The body also welcomed the stipend Rs. 7,500 per month for students for a period of 10 months for IAS aspirants.

The announcement for Integrated projects for planned development under “Ezhilmigu Coimbatore” and allocating Rs. 172 Crores for “Semmozli Poonga” also came in for huge praise by the industrial body.

Also, allocation of 2,000 Crores in the budget for rural roads covering more than 5,140 km, and announcement for targeting bank loans to the tune of Rs 30,000 crore for Women SHG was applauded.

Announcement of “TN Tech City” in Coimbatore in addition to Chennai and Hosur and the announcement to set up a new Hi-tech Sports City also was lauded.

“We once again thank the Chief Minister for the announcement of the Kovai Metro Rail Project, which we hope will reduce the traffic congestion in the City. The budget is a well balanced one with a decrease in revenue deficit” the statement noted.
