Miscreants pour acid on coconut trees near Palladam

Miscreants poured acid and herbicide into the seedlings of 40 coconut saplings in the garden of Kavin Kumar of Puthupalayam near Palladam in Tirupur district. The police are investigating the matter.

Tirupur: Kavin Kumar, son of Jeganathan, a resident of Puthupalayam panchayat near Palladam in Tirupur district.

He has planted and grown around 300 coconut saplings on his four-acre land.

Kavin Kumar and his neighbour Subramanian are said to have already had a land dispute. Kavin Kumar has filed a case in the court and the investigation is underway.

Kavin Kumar, who went to his garden in the wee hours on Monday, was shocked to find that unidentified persons had poured acid and herbicide on the seedlings of 40 coconut saplings mixed with acid and herbicide.

In two days, the seedlings have been gradually burning.

As all the 40 coconut saplings have been completely burnt and dried up, those who poured acid on the seedlings should be identified and appropriate action should be taken. Kavin Kumar has lodged a complaint with the Avinasipalayam police station seeking compensation of up to Rs 2 lakh for 40 coconut saplings and suspecting a neighbour, Subramanian.

On the basis of this, the Avinasipalayam police are investigating the miscreants who poured acid on the coconut saplings and destroyed them and subramanian on the basis of suspicion.

Was acid poured by Subramanian on coconut saplings in Kavinkumar's land due to a land dispute? Or did some miscreants pour acid on the saplings? The police are investigating along these lines.
