Coimbatore: On May 26, BJP leader Selvakumar was arrested for making disparaging statements about Minister Senthil Balaji on social media.
Selvakumar, the state vice-president of the BJP's industries wing from Coimbatore, learnt to have made disparaging statements on Twitter about Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji.
Then following next. As numerous answers to his article surfaced, DMK it wing functionaries began registering complaints one after the other. Harish, the DMK's IT wing district coordinator, filed
a complaint with the district SP's office on March 6 requesting action against BJP functionary Selvakumar.
Two days ago, Selvakumar made another disparaging remark about Power Minister Senthil Balaji. Based on a complaint filed by Suresh Kumar, a DMK functionary from Ganapathy, with the city cyber crime police, the city cyber crime police initiated a case against Selvakumar yesterday under three sections and arrested him.
He appeared in the evening before the 4th Judicial Magistrate Court in Coimbatore. The judge placed Selvakumar in judicial prison until May 26.
According to the city police, the action was taken since bjp functionary Selvakumar is making defamatory comments on Twitter, and other political parties are responding by posting defamatory comments as well, resulting in unnecessary violence and a law and order crisis.
