Coimbatore : A young woman who was admitted to Saravanampatti for hysterectomy surgery died of a heart attack in a terrible circumstance.

Sakthi Thirumala (24) lives in the Coimbatore area on Sullivan Street near Saravanampatti. Last year, she married her cousin Satish Kumar.

They have been married for one year and have no children. Meanwhile, Sakthi Thirumala was working as an associate at Bosch, a Keeranatham-based IT firm.

She was undergoing treatment for tumours in her uterus since February of last year at The Rupa Medical Centre, a hospital on Selvapuram Perur Road.

Despite treatment, her tumour became bigger, and they decided to have surgery. Dr. Roopa Saranya advised them to go to Siva Hospital in Athipalayam division for treatment because there was no facility to file a claim with Star health insurance company at their hospital.

As a result, she was admitted to Siva Hospital in the Athipalayam division about 11 a.m. on the 13th. Yesterday, about 16.30 p.m., the hospital had given anaesthetic to Sakthi for the surgery. After that she suddenly went into a heart attack.

Dr. Roopa then transported Sakthi Thirumala to KG Hospital in an ambulance after she experienced a sudden cardiac arrest and while she was being treated continually. The doctors who checked her there stated that Sakthi Thirumala died on the way and that her body has to be taken to the Coimbatore Government Hospital.

The loss of a young woman while undergoing treatment has generated widespread grief in the surrounding area.
