Tragedy in Tirupur: Two young boys drown in Noyyal river

In a terrible occurrence, seven boys from Tirupur's SIDCO neighborhood drowned in the mud after going to bathe in the Noyyal river owing to the holidays, while Chandru (12) and Iniyan (10) plunged deep and took a bath but were trapped into the mud.


Tirupur: Two school students drowned while bathing in the Noyyal river near Tiruppur.Due to the ongoing holidays, children from government and private schools near SIDCO in Tiruppur went to bathe in the Noyyal river in Tiruppur.

Chandru (12) and M. Manjunath of SIDCO Agraharam Road have been identified as the victims. S. Seven pupils had gone to take a bath, including Iniyan (10), a city resident.

Students Chandru and Iniyan went to the deep location to take a bath because the water was low. The two are alleged to have become trapped in the mud. Because they didn't know how to swim, the two couldn't get out of the mud and drowned in the water. People nearby rescued five pupils and took them to the shore after hearing their screams.

The drowning of two pupils was later reported to the Uthukuli police. The bodies of the two deceased school children were found by Uthukuli police and taken to the Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.The deaths of two schoolchildren from the same neighborhood caused great grief among the residents.
