Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a tea garden worker was attacked by a bear near Valparai in Coimbatore district.
The movement of wild animals in the estate regions around Valparai in Coimbatore district has been progressively rising in recent months. A leopard repeatedly bit and injured two north Indian employees, including a female employee, in the Sirukundra estate region two days ago.
Ayyappan (55), a resident of Injiparai Estate near Valparai, was engaged in spraying medicines at the tea estate number 4. At that time, unexpectedly, a bear roaming in the tea garden suddenly attacked Ayyappan.
The bear that bit Ayyappan in the leg and injured him continued to bite him on the neck after he sprayed the Bear with the medicine he was holding in his hand and the Bear raced away in the forest area.In this situation, the neighbours rushed him to Valparai government hospital for treatment.
He was given first aid before being shifted to the Pollachi Government Hospital for further treatment. The people of the area are in great fear as the movement of wild animals continues to increase and the workers are attacked by leopards, bears etc.
In this situation, the public has requested the forest department to take immediate steps to prevent wild animals from leaving the forest area.
