The Nilgiris: A skill development training camp was held on Wednesday for the forest staff of The Nilgiris Forest Division at the Cairn Hill Interpretation Centre near Ooty.

The camp was presided over by the Conservator of Forests and Mudumalai Field Director Venkatesh and the District Forest Officer Goutham. Forest range officers, foresters, forest guards, anti-poaching guards and fire brigade personnel, as well as the Rapid Action Force personnel (RRT) of the Nilgiris Forest Division participated in the meeting.

The details of the detection, classification and handling of forest offences, filling up of forms and laws for the same were explained to the forest staff.

Further, the queries and doubts of the forest staff relating to forest offences, wildlife offences and other offences were properly clarified.

Later, the Tamil Nadu Forest Elite Force of the Wildlife Training Institute briefed the forest staff of The Nilgiris Forest Division were briefed on fire prevention methods, handling of fire prevention equipments, how to respond during fire accidents and precautionary measures.
