Ex-employee of Udumalai private firm arrested for stealing Rs. 4 lakh

Police have arrested Prabhakaran (29), a former employee of a private firm in Udumalpet, for allegedly robbing Rs. 4 lakh in cash.


Tirupur: Police have arrested a youth for robbing a private firm in Udumalpet of Rs. 4 lakh in cash.

Balaji (32) hails from Kumaralingam in Madathukulam taluk of Tirupur district and runs a company that distributes online goods on the way to the Government Arts College in Udumalai Elayamuthur Pirivu.

On the night of April 24, Balaji finished his work, locked up the company and went home. When he arrived the next morning, the lock of the shop was broken. A shocked Balaji went inside the shop only to find that Rs. 4.12 lakh was stolen from the cupboard.

Balaji lodged a complaint with the Udumalpet police in this regard. Forensic experts were called on the complaint and fingerprint recordings were also taken. The police are investigating the matter.

Police investigations revealed that Prabhakaran (29), a former employee of the company, a native of Aravakurichi in Karur district, was involved in the theft. Prabhakaran was subsequently arrested. A box containing cash and recordings of CCTV cameras was also seized from his possession.
