Robbery breaks hundi at Koniyamman temple in Coimbatore

The hundi of The Koniyamman temple in Coimbatore was broken and money and jewellery was looted, the police have registered a case and are investigating who was involved in the robbery and how much money and jewellery was in the hundi.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, cash and jewellery were looted from the famous Koniyamman temple in Coimbatore.

The famous Koniyamman Temple, which is revered as the guardian deity of Coimbatore, is situated in the town hall area.



More than 1,000 devotees visit the temple every day.



At around 3 am today, miscreants entered the temple premises and broke open the lock of the temple hundi and looted cash and jewellery from it.

The temple watchman was shocked to see that the hundi had been broken and looted and immediately informed the temple authorities and the police about it.

The police, who rushed to the spot with the help of fingerprint experts, conducted an inspection and collected clues.



Also, CCTV camera footage was seized and the images of the persons who looted the money were recorded. They are also checking.

In the first week of March, when the temple car festival was celebrated in a grand manner surrounded by several thousand devotees, how much money was there in the hundi? Who looted it? Was there only one person involved in the incident? Or were they involved in the robbery in connivance? The police are investigating various angles.
