Coimbatore: The people of Karupparayan Koil Road in Puliyakulam area of Coimbatore district were shocked as sewage waste sludge was mixed with drinking water.

More than 200 families live on Karupparayan Koil Street in ward 66 of Puliyakulam in Coimbatore. Sewage water has been flowing out of the drinking water pipe in the area for the past few months.

When water comes into the water pipe, the sewage water first mixes with the drinking water for more than an hour. Due to this, people say that there is a foul smell of sewage in the drinking water.

For the past few months, people have not been using water pipes and have been using drinking water from nearby habitations. Similarly, the elderly are finding it difficult to walk some distance to fetch drinking water.
