Wild elephant damages forest department vehicle in Coimbatore

A Wild elephant damaged a forest vehicle that was trying to chase away a wild elephant camping at Mugasimangalam near Alandurai in Coimbatore district. Forest department officials said they survived the incident.



Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a wild elephant damaged a vehicle belonging to the forest department when they were trying to chase away an elephant camping near Alandurai in Coimbatore district.

It is a usual practice for a single wild elephant to pass through Karadimadai, Narasipuram, next to Alandurai under Madukkarai forest range in Coimbatore. In this situation, the Madukkarai forest department received information that a single wild elephant, which was on its way to its migration route as usual, had entered the agricultural land in Mugasimangalam area of Alandurai on Tuesday night.

Following this, the forest department rushed to the spot and monitored it with a torch light and a patrol vehicle. 



Suddenly, the wild elephant came out and damaged the vehicle of the forest department.



The forest department escaped with minor injuries. In this situation, the forest department, who fled from the vehicle, again started chasing away the elephant.

Following that, a lone wild elephant was driven back into the dense forest. The highly damaged forest department truck was retrieved and taken away.

The incident has created a lot of fear and panic among the people of the area.
