Police found 13 bundles of fake currency notes, including a gun (air pistol), 100 cartridges, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 500 in a man's house in Podanur. The police also seized seven fake gold biscuits, bank books, a fake cheque, a 1.5-foot-long strap knife among other items.
Coimbatore: Harendran alias Erwin Evins (40), son of Ebenezer who hails from Nagercoil in Kanyakumari district was accused of robbery and dacoity in Ernakulam district of Kerala and has two cases pending at the Thalayolaparambu police station.
Harendran, who had been in hiding in Tirupur was arrested by the Kerala Special Task Force (STF) police, on Sunday.
Thangaraj (52), the owner of the house where Harendran was staying in the Vellalore area of Coimbatore lodged a complaint with the Podanur police. He had sought a search of Harendran's room since Harendran was staying at home claiming to be involved in the sale of homoeopathic medicines in Tirupur.
Following this, the Podanur police, in the presence of the Village Administrative Officer, raided the house where Harendran was staying. They found 13 bundles of fake currency notes, including a gun (air pistol), 100 cartridges, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 500 in his room. The police also seized seven fake gold biscuits, bank books, a fake cheque, a 1.5-foot-long strap knife among other items.
The police have registered a case against Harendran and are investigating his background to ascertain if he was involved in any of the cases in Tamil Nadu. The investigation has been intensified and the poilce are also considering legal advice on taking Harendran into custody from a Kerala jail to interrogate him.
