Three youths were arrested for stabbing auto drivers near Veerakeralam in Vadavalli, Coimbatore

Police arrested three youths for allegedly stabbing two auto drivers in the Veerakeralam area. It is suspected that the incident occurred after the youths, who were travelling on a two-wheeler, were asked to take an alternate route due to bridge work in the area. The returned shortly after with another friend, and got into a heated altercation with Manikandan and Anburaj before attacking them.


Coimbatore: Manikandan (35) is a resident of Veerakeralam apartments in Vadavalli in Coimbatore and Anburaj (42) is a resident of the same apartment. Both of them work as auto drivers.

In this case, it is learned that when the two were standing at the auto stand at Veerakeralam, two youngsters on a two-wheeler were told to take a different route owing to bridge work in the area. An argument broke out between the auto drivers and the youth.

Following this, the youths on a two-wheeler left the spot. Later in the evening, the youths, accompanied by another friend, got into an argument with the auto drivers Manikandan and Anburaj and attacked them.

At that time, a young man pulled out a hidden knife, stabbed both of them with it, and escaped. Locals rescued the injured auto drivers and sent them to the Coimbatore Government Hospital in 108 ambulance. Based on a complaint lodged by Anburaj in connection with the incident, a case was registered and a search was launched for the youths who escaped. In this case, the Vadavalli police nabbed three persons who were hiding in Rathinapuri.

The arrested youngsters have been identified as Selvam's son Shoban Babu (26) of Rathinapuri, Gunasekaran (28), son of Subramani, and Dinesh (29), son of Kumar of Vadavalli.

And on Sunday, Dinesh's friends came to cook food as there was no one in the house. It was also reported that there was a disagreement with the auto drivers when they came to go to the shop. Following that, the police arrested the trio,produced them in court, and imprisoned them.
