The protest was led by MLA Amman Arjunan and it was organised to draw attention to the needs of the people working in the unorganised sector.

They demanded the payment of construction workers monthly pensions. Slogans were also raised demanding that unorganised workers be paid a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000.
