Forest Department personnel were patrolling the Attamalai forest area near Navakkarai under Madukkarai forest range in Coimbatore. In a shocking discovery, the officials found a leopard lying dead about 30 metres away from the reserve forest. It was cremated in the same area after post-mortem.
Coimbatore: This morning, forest staff were patrolling the Attamalai forest area near Navakkarai in Coimbatore's Madukkarai forest range.
A leopard was found dead around 30 metres away from the reserve forest by forest department officers. Following this, they informed the forest ranger and the district forest officer. Following this, the forest department along with a team of veterinary doctors visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
A prophylactic test was also performed on the deceased leopard. It was revealed that the deceased leopard was a 1.5-year-old female leopard that was bitten on the back of the leopard in a collision with another wild animal and died after getting out of her bowels.
It was also found that the leopard's body was covered in the claws of another animal.

Following this, the body of the dead leopard was cremated in the forest area by the same officials and forest activists.
