Villagers gathered water supply and drainage board officials and protest: demands water supply

The residents of Periya Valavadi Panchayat have been rallying together to protest the transportation of water from their area to other areas. With over 100 police personnel deployed to restore water supply, tensions have been high as villagers gathered the water supply and drainage board officials, engaging in heated arguments.

Tirupur: Water has been supplied to Periya Valavadi panchayat near Udumalai in Tirupur district for several years through the Thirumoorthy Malai Combined Water Supply Scheme.

The people of the panchayat have staged many protests in recent weeks against the transportation of water from the area to other areas. In this situation, water supply and drainage board officials, as well as more than 100 police officers, were deployed to restore water to other areas.

The public protested and gathered the water supply and drainage official, and indulged in a heated argument.

Revenue Divisional Officer Jaswanth Kannan, police, and officials from the water supply and drainage boards who were at the spot later held talks with the public.

At that time, it was written in writing that water would be transported to other areas so that there was no shortage of drinking water to periya valavadi panchayat. The public temporarily called off the protest.

However, if there is a shortage of drinking water in periya valavadi panchayat area, they will resort to various agitations, including road blockades. More than 300 villagers laid siege to water supply and drainage tax officials near Udumalpet, causing a stir in the area.
