Karpagam Academy of Higher Education in Coimbatore organized a Poetry Writing Skills Development Workshop on June 23, 2026. Poets Sowmiya Sivaraj and Na. Ki. Prasad conducted two sessions teaching students modern poetry composition techniques. The event featured the launch of 'Karpagathallir' anthology and Ilangavi Award presentations.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Division of the Department of Languages and the Skill Development Centre at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education jointly organized a Poetry Writing Skills Development Workshop. This special event held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, provided students with an opportunity to learn poetry composition techniques.


In the morning session, poet Sowmiya Sivaraj, Junior Human Resource Development Officer at Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, participated as the resource person. She elaborated on modern poetry composition techniques to students under the topic 'Thoughts and Poetry Colors'. She shared fundamental techniques for writing poetry and methods to develop creative abilities.

In the afternoon session, poet Na. Ki. Prasad, Secretary of Coimbatore Vasanthavasal Kavimanram, participated as the special guest. He released 'Karpagathallir', a poetry anthology containing poems by Vasanthavasal Youth Camp poets. This book serves as a compilation of works by young poets.

During the event, poet Na. Ki. Prasad congratulated and honored student poets who received the "Ilangavi Award" for excellence in poetry. He greatly appreciated the poetic talents of the award-winning students. Subsequently, he delivered a special address titled 'Poetry Was Born Softly', explaining in detail how poetry originates and its creative journey.

Karpagam Academy Vasanthavasal Youth Camp poets delivered the welcome address and vote of thanks, adding distinction to the event. The enthusiasm and creativity of young poets enhanced the workshop. This program was designed to improve students' poetic capabilities and nurture their literary talents.
