Tirupur: Tirupur Corporation Mayor Dinesh Kumar has warned that strict action will be taken against tax evaders in Tirupur.

Tirupur Corporation Mayor Dinesh Kumar chaired a meeting of the councillors of tirupur corporation.

Speaking at the beginning of the meeting, Corporation Mayor Dinesh Kumar said,

There have been several complaints of tax evasion in the areas under Tirupur Corporation without paying taxes. During a field inspection in two wards, it was found that tax evasion was committed. Action has been taken against them.

Those who evade tax without tax by the end of August will have to voluntarily pay the tax by putting in the new tax. Councillors and corporation zonal officers should conduct an inspection in this regard.

Strict legal action will be taken as per local body rules in September if tax evaders do not pay the tax by paying the new tax by August. This was followed by a council meeting.

At a time when the sanitation workers of Tirupur Corporation have been protesting on a daily basis with various demands, they should be given the minimum wages recommended by the district collector and the contract workers should not be shifted to other posts.

Communist Party of India (CPI) legislators staged a walkout announcing that they would walk out to press for various such demands.

Similarly, a flower market was constructed under the Smart City project on old market road under Tirupur Corporation. The revenue for the corporation is getting affected as the flower vendors do not leave the cotton market premises already allotted to the corporation administration and come to the new flower market.

Aiadmk councillors argued that the mayor of the corporation should declare in a transparent manner who was involved in the matter. The water board inspectors and water openers under the corporation do not properly inform the councillors about the time of distribution of drinking water.

He alleged that the work of breaking the drinking water pipe and wasting was not being done properly. Corporation Mayor Dinesh Kumar warned the officials in this regard. He also accused the officials of acting with negligence at the corporation meeting.

He also warned that this should be rectified by the next meeting. Following this, several resolutions were passed in the Council meeting.
