The deceased has been identified as Rajkumar (37), a resident of Narayanapuram in Arumuthampalayam panchayat near Palladam in Tirupur district. The powerloom owner had gone with his child to the Banana Leaf restaurant, which operates near Mahalaxmi Nagar.

When Rajkumar complained to the woman employee and the staff present there, he did not respond and threatened the goons and took the full amount and evicted them from the restaurant.
Later speaking to reporters about the incident, Rajkumar said, he said he would file a complaint with the food safety department seeking action against The banana Leaf Restaurant, which is selling goods at a price higher than the price fixed by the government.
