The officials then checked the Kerala government bus that was passing by. Lakshmi Nivas Eswanth (58), a resident of Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district, who was travelling in the bus, was suspicious. So they took him to the check-post room and interrogated him.

At that time, it was found that lakhs of rupees had been packed in bundles of shirts and dhotis and stitched into small packets.

A total of 24,78,500 have been seized from him. Officials are also investigating why he brought the money.
