Awareness to protect domestic horses - 5 people set a record by riding a horse from Kanyakumari to Anthiyur

Five persons, including two children from Erode, travelled on a horse from Kanyakumari to Anthiyur and made it to the Book of India. They were felicitated by the Indigenous Horse Society in Coimbatore.



Coimbatore: A felicitation ceremony was held at the Horse Racing Grounds in Coimbatore. Five people were felicitated for riding a horse from Kanyakumari to Anthiyur. The event was attended by many including horse enthusiasts, racers and congratulated the achievers.

Since 2019, the Indigenous Horse Society has been involved in the development, preservation and accreditation of indigenous horses.

Meanwhile, in order to create awareness among future generations to protect and nurture indigenous horse breeds, the Indigenous Horse Society and The Nila Horse Training School, Erode jointly conducted horse riding.

Subhadra, a 12-year-old girl from Erode, an 11-year-old boy named Manav Subramanian, along with Priyadarshini Ranganathan (32), Gauthaman Mevani Vetri Kannan (33) and Swati Vigneshwari (32) participated in the horse ride.



On July 28, 2023, mp Vijay Vasanth flagged off the horse riding expedition in Kanyakumari.



Following this, the five had covered a total distance of 497 km on horseback riding in a 10-day journey and reached the Anthiyur Horse Market on August 8.



Their achievements have been recognised by the India Book of Records and have been placed in the record book.



In this context, a felicitation ceremony was held at the Horse Racing Grounds in Coimbatore on behalf of the Indigenous Horse Society for achieving the feat through horse riding.

The event was attended by many including horse enthusiasts, racers and congratulated the achievers.
