The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation administration also telecast the event at the light screen tower in the Race Course area. Over 500 people, including school and college students and the general public, clapped their hands enthusiastically and jumped with joy as they celebrated the historic event.
An elderly man chanted Vande Mataram to express his happiness, while another person held aloft the national flag in his hand and exulted with joy at the chants of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
Nandana Krishnan, a Class 8 student from the Town Hall area distributed sweets to the public to share his joy with others in the city at the successful landing of the Vikram lander on the moon.
