Coimbatore: City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan participated in the opening ceremony of the Police Forest held at the Armed Forces Complex in Coimbatore and planted saplings.
A tree planting ceremony was held in the premises of the Coimbatore City Armed Forces Gymnasium in the name of 'Kaval Vanam'. Coimbatore City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan inaugurated the function, which was jointly organised by coimbatore city police and siruthuli, a private NGO.
About 750 saplings have been planted in miyawaki method.
Speaking to reporters on the occasion, City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan said, It is said that 750 saplings of different types have been planted and the droplet system helps in maintaining these trees. There are already 1,500 trees in the complex and I hope these trees will also help in improving the environment.
As per the orders of the Chief Minister, Thudiyalur and Vadavalli police stations will be merged with coimbatore city police from tomorrow. Hence, this link will be helpful in arranging for crime prevention measures to be carried out with additional police personnel for the akkal stations and in regulating the traffic.
Moreover, there will be no such spiral when these two police stations are merged with the city police as there used to be a situation where criminals commit a crime at one place in the city and flee to another place.
Around 500 vehicles have been fined for overspeeding and rashes in metropolitan areas. Steps will be taken to expand the speed detection sensor equipment to other places as well.
This is what he said.
