Strong opposition to Dinamalar daily - Protests throwing fecal matter by TPDK in Coimbatore

Police have arrested 30 members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam) for throwing fecal matter at the Dinamalar office in Sundarapuram area of Coimbatore in protest against the newspaper’s low grade news report Tamilnadu government's breakfast scheme.



Coimbatore: Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam) activists have protested against the Dinamalar newspaper for publishing a derogatory news report against the TN govt breakfast scheme.



Police have arrested 30 members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam) for throwing fecal matter at the Dinamalar office in Sundarapuram area of Coimbatore in protest against the newspaper’s low grade news report Tamilnadu government's breakfast scheme.

A derogatory report published in the Dinamalar daily yesterday criticising the Tamil Nadu government's breakfast scheme for school children has evoked strong opposition from various quarters. In this situation, the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam had announced that a protest would be held at the Dinamalar office in Sundarapuram area of Coimbatore.



In this context, more than 30 people led by party general secretary K Ramakrishnan staged a protest at Sundarapuram junction on Pollachi Road in Coimbatore, holding the faeces brought in plastic bags in one hand and the Dinamalar newspaper's news publication in the other.



They were stopped by the police as they went towards the Dinamalar office from there and put the newspaper's pamphlet on the road and threw the they had brought on it.



Following this, the police arrested all those involved in it.
