Pollachi Municipal Deputy Chairman Accused of Assaulting Contractors, Audio Clip Sparks Outrage

A conflict involving Pollachi's Municipal Deputy Chairman attacking road contractors leads to hospitalization of two, while an audio clip of a vulgar exchange with a DMK councillor goes viral, causing public uproar and dismay.


Pollachi: In a disturbing turn of events, Pollachi's Municipal Deputy Chairman, Gautham, and his associate Nagaraj, reportedly assaulted contract workers Karthi and Shivaji engaged in roadwork on Oothukadu Street, ward no. 32.



The altercation, arising from a demand to immediately halt the roadwork and attend to potholes in another area, escalated to physical violence.



The injured workers are currently receiving treatment at the Pollachi Government Hospital.

In a separate but related incident, an audio clip of a heated and inappropriate conversation between the Deputy Chairman and DMK councillor Perumal surfaced online. The conversation, filled with obscene language, occurred when Perumal inquired about the assault. The audio has since gone viral on social media, triggering widespread public indignation and embarrassment among DMK members in Pollachi.

East Pollachi Police are investigating the assault case, having questioned the hospitalized workers. The viral audio clip adds another layer of complexity to the unfolding situation.
