Cauvery Calling Movement to Conduct Tree-Based Agriculture Training in Tamil Nadu

The Cauvery Calling Movement announces a one-day training program in six Tamil Nadu districts to promote tree-based agriculture and timber cultivation.

Coimbatore: The Cauvery Calling Movement is set to organize field training sessions in six districts of Tamil Nadu on January 7th, from 10 AM to 3 PM, to encourage tree-based agriculture. The training, titled ‘Cultivation of Tree Crops that Yield in Lakhs,’ will take place in Coimbatore, Thiruvannamalai, Tenkasi, Dharmapuri, Thiruvarur, and Pudukottai. During a press conference at the Chennai Press Club on January 4th, the Tamil Nadu Field Coordinator, Mr. Thamizhmaaran, highlighted the initiative's focus on assisting farmers in timber tree cultivation, which is both profitable and environmentally beneficial. Zone-wise training will involve experienced tree farmers and field workers from the respective areas, offering practical insights into tree cultivation, growth conditions, and marketing strategies. Post-training, Cauvery Calling Movement staff will provide onsite guidance for tree selection suitable for the local soil. Farmers interested in the training can register by contacting 94425 90079 or 94425 90081. Additionally, the Movement is facilitating the access to timber saplings at a subsidized rate of Rs 3 in 40 Isha nursery farms across Tamil Nadu, promoting varieties like teak, neem, and sandalwood. Pepper cultivation as an intercropping option is also suggested for annual income generation.
