Woman Arrested for Stealing 8 Sovereigns of Gold Jewelry by befriending woman in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, a woman named Jansi has been arrested for allegedly stealing 8 sovereigns of gold jewelry from her friend Varalakshmi’s house in Kurumbapalayam.


Coimbatore: In a startling incident in Kurumbapalayam near Sulur, Coimbatore, a woman has been arrested for the theft of gold jewelry. The accused, Jansi, aged 23 from Periyakulam, Theni district, reportedly stole 8 sovereigns of gold from the house of her friend, Varalakshmi, who resides in Sivan Kovil Street and runs a medical store.

The incident unfolded when Jansi visited Varalakshmi’s house in Kurumbapalayam for a meal and stayed there for two days. After Jansi’s departure, Varalakshmi discovered the gold jewelry missing from her bureau. Subsequently, Varalakshmi filed a complaint at the Sulur Police Station.

Based on the complaint, Sub Inspector Rajendra Prasad registered the case and arrested Jansi. The stolen gold jewelry, weighing 8 sovereigns, was successfully recovered. This incident has highlighted the need for vigilance, even in the presence of acquaintances and friends.
