Students Celebrate Samathuva Pongal at Government Boys' High School in Tirupur

Guided by their teachers, students at the Nanjappa Municipality Government Boys' High School in Tirupur's Kadar Pettai celebrated Samathuva Pongal with traditional fervor.


Coimbatore: As the Pongal festival approaches, students of the Nanjappa Municipality Government Boys' High School in Tirupur's Kadar Pettai area celebrated Samathuva Pongal under the guidance of their teachers. The festivities included lighting a traditional firewood stove and boiling the Pongal rice as students jubilantly chanted "Pongalo Pongal".



After the Pongal was made, the students engaged in a cultural extravaganza, joining the Pavala Kodi Kumi group in a dance performance prepared over the last 15 days. Following the dance, a series of traditional Tamil sports events were held for the students, emphasizing the cultural significance of the Pongal festival. The school's headmaster, Palanisamy, mentioned that such activities aim to revive the essence of Pongal traditions among students and to raise awareness about the festival's importance.
