Sports competitions for children and youth were initiated by Ex-MLA N. Karthik in Peelamedu, Coimbatore, commemorating the Tamil New Year and Pongal.
Coimbatore: In a significant move to promote sports and celebrate the Tamil New Year and Pongal, Ex-MLA N. Karthik inaugurated various sports competitions in Peelamedu, Coimbatore. The event took place in the 52nd Ward, Balasubramania Nagar, and PSG Hatco Colony, witnessing a large participation of children, students, and locals.

Presided over by East Zone Chairman of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation, Lakkumi Ilanchezhiyan Karthik, the event saw the presence of notable figures like V. Balasubramanian, member of the Executive Committee, and R. Manikandan, member of the General Committee. Durai Senthamil Selvan, Secretary of Peelamedu Area-1, K. Narayanan, Secretary of the 52nd Ward, along with various team organizers like R.K. Sureshkumar, Arjunan, Balu Vaathiyaar, Cycle Sundarraj, Govindaraj, Shakthivel, R. Sundarraj, S. Rangadurai, and others played key roles in the event.

The competitions, which included a wide range of sports, were enthusiastically participated in by numerous children, school and college students. The event was marked by the spirit of community and sportsmanship, and was a grand success in fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride among the participants.
