Revolutionary Betavolt Atomic Batteries: Will go 50 years without a Charge, Reshaping the Future of Tech

Betavolt has developed innovative atomic energy batteries, stable for 50 years without charging harnessing the decay energy of nickel-63 nuclear isotopes and convert it into electrical energy using a novel diamond semiconductor module.

Beijing:Betavolt New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a Beijing-based company, announced a major breakthrough in energy technology with its atomic energy batteries, which have been stable and self-generating for 50 years without the need for charging or maintenance. This remarkable innovation, now in the pilot stage and soon entering mass production, is expected to revolutionize the power supply in long-range applications across various sectors.

These Betavolt atomic energy batteries harness the decay energy of nickel-63 nuclear isotopes and convert it into electrical energy using a novel diamond semiconductor module. This marks a significant advancement in the fields of atomic energy batteries and fourth-generation diamond semiconductors, placing China at the forefront of these technological areas.

The batteries' ability to self-generate power continuously over extended periods makes them ideal for use in aerospace, AI equipment, medical devices, MEMS systems, advanced sensors, small drones, and micro-robots. This positions Betavolt and China to gain a competitive edge in the new AI technology revolution.

Zhang Wei, Chairman and CEO of Betavolt, highlighted the company's upcoming product, the BV100 - the world's first mass-produced nuclear battery, boasting impressive specifications and compact size. Betavolt's atomic energy batteries, distinguished by their high energy density, safety, and environmental friendliness, are expected to have wide-ranging applications, even in medical devices implanted in the human body.

Betavolt's innovation journey has been marked by significant recognition, including a third prize at the 2023 Innovation Competition held by China Nuclear Group. The company's ongoing research and development efforts are focused on expanding the capabilities of these batteries using various isotopes, aiming to create batteries with even higher power and longer service lives.

This breakthrough by Betavolt demonstrates China's leadership in high-tech fields, potentially changing the landscape of global technology and energy sectors.
