The long-awaited high-level bridge construction over the Bhavani River between Lingapuram and Kandhavayal, costing ₹15.40 crores, is underway with rapid progress.
Coimbatore:
Construction of a ₹15.40 crore high-level bridge across the Bhavani River between Lingapuram and Kandhavayal is in full swing. With the continuous decrease in the water level of the Bhavani Sagar dam, the work has gained momentum, reaching 45% completion. Authorities have indicated plans to expedite the remaining work.

The residents of Kandhavayal village in Mettupalayam, despite their efforts to appeal to MLAs, MPs, and concerned departments for raising the causeway height that connects their village to several others, have seen little administrative response. Consequently, they have been risking their lives by traveling in coracles across the 40-feet deep waters of the flooding Bhavani River.
For villages like Kandhavayal, Allur, Uliyur, and Lingapuram, the use of coracles became a dangerous necessity whenever it rained, as Kandhavayal would become isolated from the mainland. After years of pleas, the construction of the bridge is a significant development for these communities, promising safer and more reliable connectivity.
