Coimbatore Man Charged for Harassing Woman via WhatsApp Messages

Coimbatore police file a case under the Women Harassment Prevention Act against a 28-year-old man for sending unsolicited messages to a woman on WhatsApp.

In a recent incident in Ukkadam, Coimbatore, a 25-year-old woman, working at a pharmacy, filed a police complaint against a man for harassing her through WhatsApp. The woman, a resident of GM Nagar in Ukkadam, reported that the man had been sending her voice messages since January 6.

The situation escalated on January 13, when the man, identified as Sadhik (28), also from Coimbatore, confronted the woman at her workplace. He questioned her for not responding to his messages, leading to a dispute. Following this confrontation, the woman approached the Ukkadam Police Station to file a complaint.

The police have registered a case against Sadhik under the Women Harassment Prevention Act. They are currently conducting an investigation into the matter. This case highlights the ongoing issues of digital harassment and the importance of legal recourse in such situations.
