Coimbatore District Administration Announces 'Yellow Bag Award' for Plastic-Free Zones

The Tamil Nadu Government, in an initiative to promote plastic-free environments, announces the 'Yellow Bag Award' for schools, colleges, and commercial complexes. Applications open till May 1, says Coimbatore Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati.


Coimbatore: In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, the Tamil Nadu Government has introduced the 'Yellow Bag Award' for educational institutions and commercial complexes that achieve a plastic-free status. Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati announced that applications for this award are now open until May 1.

This initiative is part of the state government's efforts to encourage the reduction of plastic use and promote eco-friendly practices. The 'Yellow Bag Award' aims to recognize and incentivize entities that actively work towards maintaining plastic-free zones.

Collector Pati urged eligible schools, colleges, and commercial complexes in the Coimbatore district to apply for the award. Application forms are available on the District Collector's office website. This announcement is expected to drive significant participation and contribute to a greener, more sustainable Coimbatore.
