The Anti-Corruption Bureau carried out a surprise overnight raid at the Annur Sub-Registrar Office near Coimbatore, confiscating unaccounted cash of Rs. 1.40 lakh.
Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted an extensive overnight raid at the Annur Sub-Registrar Office located near Nagamapudur in Coimbatore. The operation was led by ACB DSP, Divya, with a team of over six officers.
The raid, which began at 9 PM last night and continued till this morning, was initiated following continuous complaints of malpractices in document registration. The ACB team scrutinized the recent registrations and payments to verify any discrepancies or acceptance of bribes.
During the raid, the team discovered unaccounted cash amounting to Rs. 1.40 lakh. The Sub-Registrar, Selvabalamurugan, has been recommended for departmental inquiry following the findings. The ACB has also advised relevant departments to take appropriate action against Selvabalamurugan.
